How to get avi movies from pirates bay to play in my blackberry?

Can you download a codec into the blackberry (how)? Or do you really have to convert every AVI to Flash or to other formats through a long process?

This post borders on the illegal so I am going to assume the files you are downloading are legal trailers, not that it make a difference but it satisfies the not illegal rules of these boards.

First step is to make sure you have the proper codecs installed on your machine. You should be able to view the video with no problems on the machine that will do the conversion. If you cannot see the movie, you cannot convert it.

After you have those files you grab super. It's free and it does the job well. The link is below. It's pretty easy to use, find the file set the options and click convert.

These are the optimal settings for your video:
Output Format – MPEG4
Video Size - 320×240 or 240×260 for the BlackBerry 8100 Pearl
Video Bitrate - 400K
Audio Codec – MP3
Audio Bitrate - 48K at 22khz or 44khz (Personally 22Khz works fine)
Video Frame Rate – 30fps works fine but 24fps seems to be faster

Copy the file to your media card using BB Desktop Manager media app or enabling mass storage device on the unit and copying it to the mounted drive.

How do I convert an asx video file to a dvd?

Q: Is there a free downloadable program that I can use to convert an asx video file to a dvd?

A: Use the Media Coder software to convert asx files to other formats of your choice such as AVI or MPG then burn them to DVD with any burning software.

Does anyone know how to convert an .asx file to a file supported by an iPod?

Q: I have some .asx files but when I ran them through the converter that I found on the internet, they came out and didn't play properly and skip in some places. I tried going to .mp3 and this is what happened. Does anyone know what file conversion I would have to make so that the converted file would sound exactly the same as the original?
Any and all help and suggestions are very much appreciated.

A: You would have to make to files into MP4 ones. Also, if you have any FLV files like things from youtube, you can use the vixy converter at vixy.net to convert them to MP4

How do I convert asx files to mp3?

Q: How do I convert asx files to mp3? I need to download an asx stream but want to download it as an offline mp3 file, any free software please?

A: The ASX file is a metafile — a file which contains data about another file. In this case it is a simple text file which points to the file being streamed (which will probably be either a .asf or .wma)

To find the actual media file name, open the .asx file in notepad or a different text editor - this will give you the file type that is being streamed.

Is there an available codex for viewing .asx files in Linux, preferably with Mplayer?

Q: Here's an example of one I'd like to see:

http://veratech.aero/asx/Phantom%207-19-2006.asx

Or am I missing a feature in my browser (Opera) that is needed in order to load this type of URL?

A: I tried your link this afternoon, it appeared to be down.

I was able to get the streaming video working moments ago with mplayer, although it was choppy. I use the codec package: all-20050412.tar.bz2 from http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/

I just tried your link again, and mplayer errored out.

Maybe there is something wrong with the link?

edit:
I was able to get a different asx file to play, so I do think there is something wrong with your link.

Some general knowledge about ASX, flash and FLV

This tutorial is to offer you some general knowledge about ASX, flash and FLV .

The Advanced Stream Redirector (ASX) format is a type of XML metafile designed to store a list of Windows Media files to play during a multimedia presentation.

It is used frequently on streaming video servers where multiple ASF files are to be played in succession. Both RTSP and MMS streaming protocols are supported, as well as HTTP.

ASX files have MIME type video/x-ms-asf (as do ASF files).

What is flash?

Flash (previously called Shockwave Flash and Macromedia Flash) is a set of multimedia software created by Macromedia and currently developed and distributed by Adobe Systems. Since its introduction in 1996, Flash has become a popular method for adding animation and interactivity to web pages; Flash is commonly used to create animation, advertisements, and various web page components, to integrate video into web pages, and more recently, to develop rich Internet applications.

Flash can manipulate vector and raster graphics and supports bi-directional streaming of audio and video. It contains a scripting language called ActionScript. Several software products, systems, and devices are able to create or display Flash content, including Adobe Flash Player, which is available for most common web browsers, some mobile phones and other electronic devices (using Flash Lite). The Adobe Flash Professional multimedia authoring program is used to create content for the Adobe Engagement Platform, such as web applications, games and movies, and content for mobile phones and other embedded devices.

Files in the SWF format, traditionally called "Shockwave Flash" movies, "Flash movies" or "Flash games", usually have a .swf file extension and may be an object of a web page, strictly "played" in a standalone Flash Player, or incorporated into a Projector, a self-executing Flash movie (with the .exe extension in Microsoft Windows). Flash Video (FLV) files have a .flv file extension and are used from within.swf files.

What is FLV?

Flash Video is the name of a file format used to deliver video over the Internet using Adobe Flash Player (formerly known as Macromedia Flash Player) versions 6–10. Until version 9 update 2 of the Flash Player, Flash Video referred to a proprietary file format, having the extension FLV. The most recent public release of Flash Player supports H.264 video and HE-AAC audio. Flash Video content may also be embedded within SWF files. Notable users of the Flash Video format include YouTube, Google Video, Yahoo! Video, Reuters.com and many other news providers.

Flash Video is viewable on most operating systems, via the widely available Adobe Flash Player and web browser plugin, or one of several third-party programs such as MPlayer, VLC media player, Quicktime, or any player which uses DirectShow filters (such as Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player, and Windows Media Center) when the ffdshow filter is installed.

Though the container format itself is open, the codecs used with it are patented.

Indeed, there are so many FLV players. Moyea FLV Player is one of them especially designed for playing Flash Videos, and furthermore it is free.
